The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the appointment of Yousif Ahmed AlMutawa as its new Chief Real Estate Officer. Previously serving as CEO of Sharjah Sustainable City, AlMutawa’s new role expands significantly to cover the strategic development, investor engagement, and sustainable community planning for Shurooq’s real estate portfolio across Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
The appointment comes at a time of growing momentum in Sharjah’s real estate sector, bolstered by investor confidence, a strong regulatory framework, and demand for developments that offer cultural value and affordable luxury.
AlMutawa is expected to play a key role in driving forward Shurooq’s mission to position Sharjah as a regional hub for purpose-driven development. His leadership will focus on curated real estate strategies that emphasise liveability, heritage conservation, and community-centric design.
Among the major projects under his purview is Ajwan Khorfakkan, a high-profile coastal development on the UAE’s East Coast. The project is being hailed as a benchmark in human-centric design, blending leisure, lifestyle, and green public spaces in a culturally rooted setting.
Having joined Shurooq in 2006, AlMutawa brings nearly two decades of experience across project management, construction, operations, investment strategy, and property oversight. He holds a degree in e-commerce from the Higher Colleges of Technology – Sharjah, is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and is a member of the Project Management Institute and the Real Estate Sector Business Group within the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
